Gi Group are recruiting on behalf of the NHS trust in Cambridge for a Occupational Health Advisor.
This is a temporary contract for 6 months with a possible extention with an immediate start available.
£31,365-£37,890 (Band 6) dependant on experience or length of service with the NHS.
To work within a team of Occupational Health professionals providing a high-quality need based Occupational Health service to all contracted clients.
Responsible for the provision of specialist clinical services and to advise employees on the prevention of ill health and other aspects of work - related health problems
The nature of the job will occasionally require the post holder to travel off site, often with equipment; so independent mobility throughout East Anglia is essential.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Clinical
To ensure the delivery of quality standards of Occupational Health service to all Trust
staff and other contracted clients.
To provide clinical advice and practice that is based on the specialist knowledge and
skills of Occupational Health Nursing
Undertake and manage own caseload of management referrals, staff screening,
contact tracing cases in accordance with Occupational Health policies, organising case
conferences and meetings with the relevant personnel.
Take responsibility without supervision for monitoring interventions for the care of
clients within the working environment.
Educational
To participate in the development and delivery of Occupational Health education to
clients, managers, and colleagues by acting as a specialist resource, providing
support, guidance, and knowledge within the Trust.
Participate in the induction and training of new/junior practitioners and engage in
continuing professional development and clinical supervision to maintain and develop
evidence-based skills and knowledge in an occupational health setting.
Be responsible for specific area(s) of interest and develop and maintain evidencebased resource for this.
Share professional knowledge and expertise through formal and informal teaching
using flexible methods of delivery.
Managerial
Accept accountability and responsibility for the management and effectiveness of the
clinical service on a day-to-day basis in the absence of a more senior member of
staff, recognizing appropriate skill mix, staffing levels and staff competency, in order
to deliver a quality service.
Delegate appropriately and give constructive feedback to direct reports and
colleagues.
Maintain effective and efficient communication with the senior lead nurse and locality
nurse manager and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, on issues relating
to the department.
Liaise/benchmark with other Occupational Health departments and agencies, sharing
ideas and findings as team/departmental meetings.
To assist in the collation of Occupational Health information including computerised
data.
Effective Line management of direct reports and individuals within the OH team
Participate in audit of service use and delivery and departmental processes,
presenting results to the wider team and assisting with implementation of any
resulting changes to Occupational Health nursing and or clinical practice.
Actively participate in the development of departmental standard operating
procedures and review and update Trust policy and procedures.
Professional
To ensure practice is in accordance with the NMCs Code of professional Conduct.
To be aware of the clinical developments within Occupational Health nursing and
participate in innovation and change concerned with improving service delivery.
To maintain appropriate skills and competence in line with current research-based
practice.
To be a role model for junior colleagues to aspire to
To organize, participate and attend meetings on matters relating to the trust,
contracted clients and OH Department, feeding back and acting on information.
